DyDD Officials -


DyDD Board of Directors would like to publicly apologize for any public or private criticism you have received from members of The Dockyard Derby Dames. While each individual skater is responsible for their own behavior within this league and is held to the standards of the ‘Skater Code of Conduct.’ An individual can choose to interpret and act on those rules as they see fit. The Board as a whole would like to express disappointment in those skaters who chose to take their thoughts and feelings to public forums presenting Dockyard Derby Dames in a less than positive light. At this point in time no official compliant has been filed with the appropriate committee to handle issues with Official staff.

Roller Derby is an intense athletic sport, we all know this. Emotions are heightened at this point in the season and teams are putting everything they have out on the track. Bout officiating is left to the officials (unless a captain or coach objects DURING the game per the normal rules). Period. Skaters shall respect the referees' judgment, trust their objectivity, know and understand, as with many sports, that without instant replay there are times judgment must be used and trusted -- and above all else, skaters will appreciate the volunteer efforts given to our league. Without referees, we would not have a game.

As athletes, league members should recognize the importance of having officials and showing mutual respect on and off the track. DyDD would not tolerate this behavior from our Officials crew and our skaters should be held to the same level.

What has been said and done is done. Those who speak out in negativity do not do so on behalf of the entire league. Dockyard Derby Dames as a whole has always prided ourselves on having strong and positive relationship with our Official Staff. We will continue to work together for the mutual benefit of the league.
